The naval city of Karlskrona in Blekinge was designated a World Heritage site in 1998. During May the city also becomes a meeting place for writers and readers, where authors get to engage with audiences at the book fair and through digital conversations broadcast live, literature circles and visits to schools, promoting students’ reading and writing growth and enhancing their engagement to books and their authors.
Bok och hav (Book and sea) – Karlskrona’s Literary Festival was held for the first time in 2017. “Bok och Hav” was established by the author Katarina Mazetti. She got the idea during a visit to French Concarneau and their book festival Livre et more. Nowadays, the festival is run by the non-profit association Bok och hav with great support from volunteers and other partners.
Bok och hav 2022 is scheduled to take place on May 13th-15th in Karlskrona, Sweden. It will be recast as a hybrid event featuring physical exhibition and digital conversations broadcast live.
